Danny Jolly

I am passionate about mindfulness building our resilience and empowering us to live richer and more vibrant lives.

Embodied practice

I have been regularly practising meditation since 1998, which has been a daily mindfulness-based practice since 2010. I have completed six different mindfulness-based (8-week) courses, including Interpersonal Mindfulness and Mindful Self-Compassion. Mindfulness helps me to manage the pain and emotional reactivity of a chronic back condition. I believe in life-long learning, promoting wellbeing and reducing suffering.

Training and Registration

I hold a Masters degree (with distinction) in Teaching Mindfulness with the Centre for Mindfulness Research and Practice (CMRP), Bangor University, through which I am also a certified Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction teacher. I am registered with the British Association of Mindfulness-Based Approaches, complying with their Good Practice Guidelines and Ethical Standards. I keep up to date with developments in mindfulness through regular training with University of Oxford Mindfulness Centre and The Mindfulness Network, who along with CMRP are at the forefront of mindfulness teacher training and supervision, and scientific research into mindfulness-based approaches. All of this training is assessed in accordance with the criteria created by the universities of Bangor, Oxford and Exeter.

I have completed an International Coaching Federation accredited training, with Coaching Development, and have mentored students on that programme several times. I have also completed a Chartered Institute of Arbitration accredited mediation training. The active listening, presence and inquiry skills developed through these trainings are a helpful compliment in the collaborative learning process of a mindfulness training.

I teach mindfulness courses, workshops, taster sessions, and weekly drop in classes. – both to the general public and in the workplace  . This can be face-to-face or online via Zoom, in a group format or on a one-to-one basis. My training includes teaching the scientifically researched 8-week Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) course  developed by Jon Kabat-Zinn PhD in 1979. This is the original mindfulness-based course from which all other contemporary mindfulness courses are derived, for instance Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) which is recommended by NICE to treat recurrent depression within the NHS (see & I am also trained to teach the Mindfulness for Life and Finding Peace in a Frantic World courses designed by The University of Oxford Mindfulness Centre.

My friendliness, non-judgement and patience supports the co-creation of a safe and nourishing environment for practising and learning about mindfulness together. Clients attending my classes/courses say they feel grounded, calm, peaceful, strong, happy and open hearted, with greater perspective, stability and focus. You can be assured that I engage in regular professional supervision and my work is covered by insurance.

I teach for The Mindfulness Project and and also volunteer for The Mindfulness Network charity by supporting their community offerings, including teaching the Mindfulness Group for Men sessions.

Having held commercial management positions in the construction industry (quantity surveying & project management) for 20 years, I have direct experience of the essential significance of workplace wellbeing in an increasingly competitive and time pressured marketplace.

As a parent I am conscious of the pressure on children and young people to achieve at school and university. The Mindfulness in Schools Project is designed to improve the lives of children by making a genuine, positive difference to their mental health and wellbeing.

In my spare time I enjoy the company of family and friends, food, film, live music, playing table tennis and long walks in nature with our dog Dash the whippet!

“Danny’s passion for mindfulness really shines through in his teaching. Having done his 8-week mindfulness course and as a regular at his drop-in classes, I can say that he is always completely focussed and engaged with his teaching. He is curious – wanting to find out our particular learning needs and provide content for these; creative – in providing a range of meditation approaches and styles and compassionate – never judgemental and always encouraging.” JH
